Electric Vehicles in Singapore - Summary Draft 1

Sanjay (2020) states that Singapore has made a goal to reduce the number of internal combustion engine vehicles to zero by 2040. Singapore aims to have only electric vehicles on the road by then. There’s a lot of changes that Singapore is going to make when moving forward such as creating a whole new COE category just for electric vehicles and increasing the charging ports from 1,600 to 28,000 across the island. Sanjay (2020) also states that the government will need to work closely with the private sector organizations such as SP Group and BlueSG together with carpark owners and operators such as Wilson and Metro and other building owners. The public transport system will be operating electrically and be made better to tackle the problem of traffic congestion. Those who continue to use their private vehicles will also be subjected to a high COE. All in all, what really matters is we all do our part in fighting climate change.
